Resources

I've been interested in self help/personal development for years and in the last few years I've been into the Law of Attraction (LOA). There are a lot of books and blogs I've read that I've found useful so I've decided to create a resources page to gather all the information in one place and also so other people can see it and hopefully find it helpful. I really like discovering new information myself so if you do too then you'll like this page! :) I'll keep adding to it as I go.

Websites

Self Help/Personal Development and LOA

Post I did on my favourite self help/personal development blogs and sites: http://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/top-10-self-helppersonal-development.html

My post on the Law of Attraction: http://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/law-of-attraction.html

Deliberate Receiving

I mentioned this in my LOA post but it's worth referencing separately because it's one of my main resources. The site is run by Melody Fletcher and explains the basics of the Law of Attraction as well as featuring lots of blog posts on manifesting techniques and tips to help you work through your issues and release your limiting beliefs, so you can get what you want.

Boni works with intentions (setting an overall intention for your life and each area you want to change) and has created a process called The Map which she describes in her book and on the website. You can find it under the category "How to Create" on the site.

Very good book I've had for years that covers a variety of topics such as crystals, angels, magic, numerology, astrology and creating your reality/manifesting.

Watching The Tree by Adeline Yen Mah

I've also had this book for years. It's written by Adeline Yen Mah, author of the autobiography Falling Leaves. She's originally from China, studied in the UK and then moved to America. This book is about Chinese wisdom and beliefs and discusses various spiritual and philosophical subjects such as the Tao Te Ching, Feng Shui, the I Ching, Buddhism, Confucius and meditation. Adeline also shares conversations she had with her Ye Ye (Grandfather) and others subjects like the Chinese language and food.

Spirit & Destiny Soul Secrets (Edited) by Emily Anderson

This is from the British spiritual magazine Spirit & Destiny and is a collection of stories, tips and interviews with spiritual people who have appeared in the magazine, such as angel expert and psychic Doreen Virtue, spiritual guru Deepak Chopra, psychic Michele Knight, witch Silja, astrologer David Wells, psychic and LOA expert Sonia Choquette, spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle, Taoism practioner and teacher Barefoot Doctor aka Stephen Russell, Anglo Saxon spirituality/shamanic expert Brian Bates and self development/LOA teacher and author Dr. Wayne Dyer.

Another book I've had for a while. Every so often I get out it and read it over. There are a variety of perspectives in it, so it's a good book for dipping in and out of. :)

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

Teachings of Toltec wisdom about the limiting beliefs and ideas your mind can get trapped in.

Steering By Starlight by Martha Beck

Life coach Martha helps you fulfil your destiny. She gives you exercises to do to work through the things holding you back and help you decide what you want. She doesn't really follow LOA but some things she's experienced have made her think there is some truth to the concept.

My mum bought this for me for less than £1 a few years ago and it was a bargain! It's a good book.

May Cause Miracles by Gabrielle Bernstein

Miracles Now by Gabrielle Bernstein

These two are programmes that you can follow to change your life for the better. I did them in 2014 and 2015 and I re-read the books sometimes and do the exercises.

Add More ~ing to your Life by Gabrielle Bernstein

I read this in March and enjoyed it. It's Gabrielle's first book and is similar to the others in that you have exercises and meditations to do. This one gives you physical exercises to do as well, such as running and trampolining.

Spirit Junkie by Gabrielle Bernstein

Similar to the other books but more about Gabby's own story and how she healed herself. She gives you exercises and meditations to do to help yourself.

The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein

Easy Breezy Miracle by Emmanuel Dagher

Emmanuel provides easy exercises you can do to help you experience miracles in your life.

Deliberate Receiving by Melody Fletcher

This is the book by Melody from the Deliberate Receiving website. She goes deeper into LOA and how to use it to change your life. Another good one to refer to often.

Book by Kyle Gray, one of the UK's top angel experts. This book gives you tips for increasing your spiritual connection, raising your vibration and manifesting your dreams. There are 111 practices and I'm currently working through them.

The Healing Handbook by Tara Ward

I've had this book for years but recently found it again and have been working through the exercises. It's a guide to healing yourself and others using the chakras, meditation and visualisation etc.

You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay

This is a book I heard about for ages but didn't get round to reading until earlier this year and then I was really glad I did! It's about how the mind is connected to the body and changing your thoughts and thinking positively to heal physical and mental conditions and change your life for the better. It's the same type of thinking as the Law of Attraction but this was originally written in 1984 (it's old as me! lol), before LOA became really popular. There have been revised additions since then.

Louise lists the spiritual meanings of health conditions, such as problems with your eyes may mean there's something you don't want to see in life. (The list is taken from her other famous book Heal Your Body). I recommend you read it if you've been struggling with physical or mental issues. :)

Mental Health

Self-Help for your Nerves by Dr. Claire Weekes

Well known book by Australian doctor Claire Weekes with advice for recovering from anxiety, depression, breakdown etc. It was published in 1977 so the writing can sound a bit outdated but it's still a good resource.

Mood Mapping by Dr. Liz Miller

Liz Miller is a doctor who also has bipolar disorder. In this book she shares techniques for managing your mood and feeling better and introduces a method called Mood Mapping to help you measure your moods.

Magic/Wicca

The Real Witches' Kitchen by Kate West

Ideas for celebrating the sabbats (Wiccan/pagan festivals that take place throughout the year) with food but also contains info on spells and making your own lotions, oils and candles etc. This is the first book of hers I got.

I like to celebrate the sabbats, mainly by making food and drink. If that's something that interests you visit my other blog The Seasonal Life: http://www.livingseasonal.blogspot.co.uk/

The Real Wiches' Handbook by Kate West

More in depth book about witchcraft in general. A good guide.

The Green Wiccan Book of Shadows by Silja

Another basic guide to witchcraft and some spells to do. They are fairly easy spells which don't require a lot of ceremony, so if that sounds like your style you'll probably like this book!

The Kitchen Witch by Soraya

Similar to The Real Witches' Kitchen with recipes for the sabbats.

The Source: a Manual of Everyday Magic by Ursula James

This is a unique book written by  hypnotist Professor Ursula James but a large part of it was channelled from Mother Shipton (Ursula Sonteil), the 16th century Yorkshire healer and prophetess..  It tells you how use magic to create the life of your dreams by using magical techniques. Ut's set out in stages.

I first got this from the library a few years ago but i didn't complete it. I got it again at the end of last year and have got finished working though it (April 2017). I haven't seen big changes yet but I do feel better for having done the exercices. If you're into magic I expect you will enjoy this book and if you don't have much experience it might inspire you to practise more in future. :)

Other

The Tale of Murasaki by Liza Dalby

This is a fiction book (based on a real person) but I'm including it because it's the book that inspired the title of this blog. :) It's about Murasaki Shikibu, the author of the legendary Japanese story The Tale of Genji. Murasaki is inspired by the beauty of life and watching the seasons change, e.g. the petals falling as spring ends. I've had this for years, since my late teens, I think. I'm re-reading it at the moment.

It's actually 4 years this month (Feb 2017) since I started Falling Petals! You can read the first post here: http://fallingpetalsuk.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/welcome-to-falling-petals.html

The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

I first discovered Gretchen's blog of the same name (now www.gretchenrubin.com) in 2008 and then bought the book when it came out. Its about the year she spent trying to become happier by doing things such as declutering, focusing on her reationships, exercising and using mindfulness techniques.

This is a good book for anyone who wants to be happier. I'm currently re-reading it (April 2017).
